GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A large white tent will be the home to ArtPrize’s newest addition, The Eddy, which will feature 10 days of live music and events starting on Friday.

The tent, set up in green space along the Grand River between I-196 and the Sixth Street Bridge, is the only one of its kind in the world. At just over 20,000 square feet, it can hold 3,500 people.

The Eddy music festival will feature multiple stages and performances from more than 200 artists in every genre. There will also be silent discos, during which 1,000 people will listen to music on headphones and dance.

“Grand Rapids during ArtPrize is such a vibrant unique place and so we’re going to create this very cool platform of music arts, ideas,” said Sam Porter, the founder of Porter House Presents, which is sponsoring The Eddy.

The Avett Brothers will perform at The Eddy this weekend. Next weekend will be the ArtoberFest with Founders Brewing Co. beer and music.

A lot of the performances at The Eddy are free, but you will need tickets to see the big acts. Prices range from $20 to $50.
