LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — The Michigan State Capitol Commission is selling 100 historical modillions that were removed from the capitol building during recent restoration work.
The decorative sandstone brackets used to support overhanging features were removed because they were worn down by the weather during their 135 years on the capitol building. The modillions are being sold for $100 each.

- Average width: 7 to 9 inches
- Average thickness: 6 to 7.5 inches
People who want to buy a modillion can enter a lottery to do so by emailing Valerie Marvin at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 517.373.2358 and leaving a message including their name, phone number, mailing address and email address. You may enter the lottery only once. Lottery entries will be accepted through Friday, Oct. 16.
Lottery winners will be chosen on Oct. 19 at noon in room H65 at the Capitol, but you do not have to be present to be chosen. Winners will be notified by phone or email. They can then buy their modillions on a first-come, first-served basis between Oct. 22 and Oct. 24.
