EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Anyone who walks through the doors of East Grand Rapids Middle School is greeted with a dazzling display. A large mural covers one of the walls, a recent addition created by the students.
The project started when teacher Holly Lampen approached artist Corey Van Duinen about the idea. They gave each student a card with some inspiration on it, like a word or a subject in school. Each student drew a picture on the back of the card. All of the pictures were incorporated together to design the mural.
Students worked alongside Van Duinen to put the mural together. The project was made possible with funding from the East Grand Rapids School Foundation, the PTO, and community businesses and organizations.
