SPRINGFIELD, Mich. (WOOD) — A man is in critical condition after authorities say he crashed his car into a Calhoun County home.
It happened around 2:10 a.m. on Sunday. Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies say the 27-year-old driver, a Springfield resident, did not stop at the intersection of LaVista Avenue and Goguac Street. The vehicle went through the intersection and through the front yard of a home in the 400 block of Goguac Street. It then smashed through an exterior wall of the home before coming to a stop in the living room.
Authorities say the driver was pinned in the vehicle and had to be removed by the Battle Creek Fire Department. He was taken to the hospital where he is in critical condition. Authorities say no one else was in the car, and no one was inside the home at the time of the crash.
Deputies say speed and alcohol may have been a factor. The crash is under investigation.
