Crews free worker pinned in hole at EGR home

EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD)– A worker was hospitalized after being hit by a 70-pound pipe bracket.

The accident happened Wednesday in the 2600 block of Oakwood Drive SE in East Grand Rapids.

Authorities told 24 Hour News 8 the Kent Company worker was down in a hole working on the foundation of a home when the pipe bracket rolled down the slope and into the hole, hitting him in the back.

The worker, who was pinned in the hole, said he lost feeling in his feet.

Police, fire and emergency crews from East Grand Rapids and Grand Rapids freed the man.

He was conscious as he was taken to a nearby hospital. Authorities say his injuries are non-life threatening.
