GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The 616 Lofts opened its door to the media on Wednesday for the first look at its latest project on Michigan Street.
The project is the company’s first new construction project. Previously the company had renovated buildings around Grand Rapids downtown.
The project, at 740 Michigan Street, is a $16 million project that will have 54 one- and two-bedroom apartments. Rent will range from $1,100 per month to $2,300 per month.
The building is four stories with the top three floors holding the apartments and the ground floor is a commercial space, which has not yet be leased.
The building is one of the first new construction buildings in the residential neighborhood just east of the Medial Mile.
“This one, we had some challenges to make sure it could fit in the neighborhood that was existing. Wanting it to fit with the character that is already here, but obviously it is a brand new building and there is only so much we can do to make it look a certain way, but its been exciting we have gotten great responses from the neighbors,” said Caitlin Harvey, director of community for 616 Lofts.
