GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Car crashes are the number one killer of teens, and the Ionia Intermediate School District wants to help eliminate this statistic. The Ionia County Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council (YAC) hosted the 5th Annual Teen Driver Safety Conference on October 14th, 2015 at Celebration! Cinema Grand Rapids North & IMAX This conference is sponsored by State Farm, along with additional local businesses.

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a student driven group that strives to both initiate change in youth habits and attitudes, and also improve schools and communities. YAC students work to make these programs successful by utilizing service-learning and fundraising for projects that address local youth issues.

This conference highlights the YAC’s Strive 2 Arrive Alive program, which aims to protect youth by promoting safe driving habits. Car Crashes are the number one killer of teens, and students do not want their peers becoming a statistic.
