Chili-Dawg Challenge being held in downtown Ionia

IONIA, Mich. (WOOD) — The Chili-Dawg Challenge is taking over the streets of downtown Ionia Thursday evening.

The chili dog eating contest is just part of the fun. There are also many booths where area organizations sell chili dogs for around $1.50. Most of the proceeds are going to the local Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The booths try to out-do each other and be the first to sell out all of their chili dogs.

In all, about 8,000 dogs will be sold over the next couple hours.

The Chili-Dawg Challenge runs until 8 p.m. Thursday.
