GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) A young man isn’t letting a disability slow him down, and you can help improve his quality of life by attending an upcoming fundraiser.
Seventeen-year-old Tony Bonofiglo has cerebral palsy, uses a wheelchair to get around, and a computer to talk. He is active in his community by going to area schools and speaking to others about people with disabilities. His message of inclusion encourages people to treat people with disabilities as they would anyone else.
Bonofiglo has a specialized van for transportation, but it is falling into disrepair. He recently connected with the non-profit organization Lori’s Voice to request assistance in getting a new van. Lori’s Voice helps children with special needs, providing help to pay for anything insurance doesn’t cover.
A fundraiser will take place on Friday, October 30 for four area charities, including Lori’s Voice. It is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Noto’s Old World Dining in Grand Rapids. Guests will enjoy gourmet Italian cuisine, sample international wines, and hear live music. General admission tickets are $60 and VIP tickets are $100. You can select Lori’s Voice as your charity of choice when buying your tickets online. For more information, call (616) 493-NOTO (6686). If you would like to make a donation to Bonofiglo’s van fund, visit his GoFundMe page.
