Photo gallery: Art auction features adults recovering from mental illness

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD): Artists, advocates, and their supporters all gathered at New Vintage Place for the celebration of the Mental Health Foundation’s Imagine: Shining Through 2015 art show and auction.

Christy Buck is the executive director of the Mental Health Foundation. Typically, she spreads awareness through the message of “be nice.” at various schools and businesses.

Last week, the MHF’s spotlight was on adult artists living with mental illness in West Michigan.

The event featured three different sections of silent auctions which included items like signed memorabilia, jewelry, spa services, and food baskets.

Of course, the highlight of the night were the 28 artists whose work was displayed and up for auction throughout the night.

The featured artist, Ivan Jenson, wrapped the night up with the live auction of his theme piece “John Lennon”.

This evening was living proof that shining through the darkness can lead to a beautiful recovery.
