Survey: Halloween is going to the dogs

(WOOD)—When it comes to Halloween , don’t count out dogs.

In a survey by Big Heart Pet Brands, 37-percent of Michigan “dog parents” said they planned to dress up their pet for Halloween.

Michigan ranked ninth among states that include their pups in Halloween festivities the most.

Virginia took the top spot for “doggy trick-or-treaters”, followed by New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Missouri.

Among surveyed pet owners from Michigan, 45 percent said they greet trick-or-treaters at the door with their dog.

When it comes to leaving the house for trick-or-treating, 34 percent of Michigan dog owners said they bring their dog along for the ride.

Some Michigan pet owners also splurge more for their dog during Halloween; 18 percent fessed up to giving their pet extra treats during the holiday.

Dog parades and Halloween gatherings are a must for 14 percent of surveyed Michigan pet owners.
