IONIA, Mich. (WOOD) A West Michigan organization works to help families know where their next meal is coming from. IM Kids 3rd Meal helps provide meals to kids living in food insecure homes in Ionia and Montcalm Counties.
In Ionia County, one in five children is food insecure. In Montcalm County, it’s one in four children. A lack of healthy food can impair a child’s ability to concentrate and perform well in school. Hungry children are more likely to experience headaches, stomachaches, colds, ear infections, and fatigue.
IM Kids 3rd Meal Program is hosting a night of live music, a silent auction, and family fun to help fund the program. It takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on November 11 at the Grand Woods Lounge in Grand Rapids. Admission is $10 and guests can enjoy complimentary appetizers and a complimentary cocktail as well as live music from Josh Rose and Jesse Ray and the Carolina Catfish. It is open to the public. One hundred percent of proceeds will benefit IM Kids 3rd Meal.
