HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD)— Holland’s first female mayor is marking her first day on the job.
Nancy DeBoer was sworn into office during the city council meeting Monday night.
“I am very excited, very honored and I feel very privileged to be entrusted leading this community,” said DeBoer.
DeBoer edged out interim Mayor Bob Vande Vusse in last week’s election, netting 52 percent of the vote to Vande Vusse’s 48 percent.
Deboer, 61, is a former teacher. She also served on the city council for a decade. She currently serves as executive director of the West Michigan Character Council.
