2-1-1 now connects to veteran’s service database

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Local resource call center 2-1-1 now connects with the Veteran’s Service Database. Veterans can now call 2-1-1 to get help with navigating the systems surrounding veterans benefits.

2-1-1 is a local social services hotline here in West Michigan thanks to the Heart of West Michigan United Way. By simply dialing 2-1-1, the operators can connect those in need to case management, services for basic needs, family services and utility assistance.

Now it’s easier for veterans to learn what services they qualify for, where to go and how to access the benefits and programs they have earned. Veterans of any service branch or a family member of veteran can call the 2-1-1 operators to get assistance with hundreds of benefits.

It can be tough for veterans and their families to navigate the benefit systems available for them because of all the different agencies and government offices. That’s why Heart of West Michigan United Way added veteran’s services to the 2-1-1 call center.

Find out what services and benefits are available to you by calling 2-1-1 today.
