GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Drive kicks off its second season Saturday.
Wes Weir, the vice president of the team, said they’re expecting to fill more seats this year at the DeltaPlex in Walker.
“I think we’re going to increase our attendance by 20, 25 percent,” Weir said.
The 24 home game lineup will feature more Saturday games this season and $1 beer nights on Wednesdays.
Weir said the Detroit Pistons are more comfortable with the process of the developmental league and they’ll utilize the Grand Rapids Drive more this year.
For fans, the team has added a revamped sound system and hired a digital videographer to make a more interactive digital video board for game days.
“From a ticket sales standpoint, our season ticket base has grown, our sponsorship revenue has grown, so all the work we put in this off season has been huge and now it’s just time to execute,” Weir said.
The home opener is Saturday as the Grand Rapids Drive takes on the Delaware 87ers.
The doors open at 6 p.m. at the DeltaPlex, tip-off is at 7 p.m.
Individual tickets are $5. Family packages offer four tickets, hot dogs and drinks for $44.
