Kids' Food Basket volunteer driver loads sack suppers into vehicle

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Every day, there are children in the greater Grand Rapids area who go home from school and have no food for an evening meal. Kids’ Food Basket is working to change that, but they need help.

Kids’ Food Basket is looking for drivers who can pick up sack suppers and deliver them to schools. The schools give those suppers to children in need so they can take them home to have an evening meal.

Volunteer Drivers

  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Use your own vehicle for delivery
  • Must be able to lift tubs and deliver them to schools
  • Commit one afternoon per week
  • Call Abby at (616) 235-4532 between noon and 5 p.m. on weekdays to sign up.

Kids’ Food Basket is offering Holiday Gift Card again this year. When you purchase a Holiday Gift Card, Kids’ Food Basket provides meals to children. It’s a great idea for a holiday gift. Click here to order cards online.

The staff at Kids’ Food Basket is getting into the giving spirit. They raised $5,000 and they’re encouraging you to be generous for Giving Tuesday on December 1. Donations to Kids’ Food Basket on that day will be matched, up to $5,000.

If you would like to donate food items to Kids’ Food Basket, you can do so at any Fox Motors location through the month of November. Items needed include 100% fruit juice boxes, fruit cups, granola bars, cracker packs, and raisins.
