CANNON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Cannonsburg Ski Area is buying the Pando Winter Sports Complex, which has been on the market for several months.
The deal closed on Friday, but Cannonsburg will not have enough time to get the complex ready for this winter, according to Cannonsburg’s marketing director Alycia Choroszucha.
Choroszucha says they hope to make improvements at Pando to get it ready to open in 2016.
According to Choroszucha, developers were considering buying the property to turn it into housing.
“Pando has been part of the community for 50 years. We didn’t think that was something that should happen,” Choroszucha said.
Cannonsburg has 10 to 15 lanes of tubing opening this year. They hope that will help fill the void since Pando won’t be open this winter.
