GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Women in Costa Rica will soon benefit from a program based in West Michigan.

Selenia Rodríguez is taking on a four month long international fellowship at Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women (GROW). Rodríguez is a community development professional with a major in Business from Costa Rica.

Rodríguez is taking the fellowship through Community Solutions Program, a professional development program for global community leaders sponsored by The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State.

She says the experiences she hopes to gain at GROW will help create opportunities for women in Costa Rica to pursue opportunities. Rodríguez aims to learn what it takes to empower women in the world of business. GROW’s model will give her the tools to evaluate the best way for women in her country to learn and benefit from the model.

Help support GROW by attending the 2015 Sparkle Holiday Celebration. The wine, women, and shopping event is on Thursday, December 3, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Cascade Hills Country Club. Tickets are $50. Purchase them online at www.growbusiness.org.

GROW is looking for volunteers and board members. If you have fund development experience, are an attorney with a business background, or want to volunteer at special events, visit their website.
