GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) One of West Michigan’s favorite road race events is returning this spring. The Gazelle Girl Half Marathon and 5K takes place on Sunday, April 17, 2016.
Registration is now open for the fire women-only half marathon in the state. Thousands of women participate each year, helping raise money for female-focused charities in the community. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women (GROW), Kent County Girls on the Run, the YWCA, and another charity partner that will be announced soon.
New this year are Spirit Stations. Groups of 20 people can sign up to host a Spirit Station to encourage runners along both routes. Sign-up for Spirit Stations begins in December. A non-profit organization that signs up to host one will receive a $100 donation to their cause.
Also in December is the Gazelle Girl Shop and Charity Hop. Meet the charity partners of Gazelle Girl from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on December 2 at Gazelle Sports in Grand Rapids. Shop for race day needs, get training advice, and enjoy some refreshments.
The Gazelle Girl Half Marathon is $75 and the 5K is $30 if you register before March 1. Register and stay updated on trainings and other events at gazellegirlhalfmarathon.com.
