GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Today on Giving Tuesday one local organization is joining the national movement in a huge way. The Salvation Army of Kent County announced a $30,000 matching gift to support its Red Kettle Christmas Campaign.
That means on Tuesday December 1st, all donations from all sources including online, mail, red kettles and phones in Kent County will be matched up to $30,000.
There are 60 different Red Kettle sites across Kent County. You can also donate online to The Salvation Army here.
This matching gift was created by The Salvation Army’s Advisory Board to boost the public donations for their Christmas Campaign and join the national movement of Giving Tuesday.
All donations during this time of year are used to fund The Salvation Army’s programs all year round. These programs include food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach for the elderly or ill, shelter and clothing for the homeless as well as opportunities for underprivileged children.
