GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) When you think of a homeless person in Grand Rapids, a teenager or child might not come to mind, but they’re out there and they need help. That’s where HQ Runaway and Homeless Youth Drop-in Center comes in. It opened its doors just one year ago to serve the runaway and homeless youth in our community.

Nearly 2,000 youth experience homelessness throughout the Grand Rapids area every year.  HQ is a drop in center that will provide the necessary support to young people. HQ offers safe place to meet basic needs such as laundry, hygiene, and showers. Community connections are available to support case management, counseling, housing and relationship needs along with education and employment needs. It helps kids who may be slipping through the cracks to live healthy, engaged lives.

A fun event is planned Tuesday to benefit HQ. The GR Lip Sync Battle will feature teams battling it out on stage at Celebration! Cinema North. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available online.
