STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Meijer store in Sterling Heights was evacuated Monday night after a customer made a comment about ISIS to an employee.

The man reportedly said to the clerk, “You ever heard of ISIS?” He then left a backpack in a cart in the parking lot, police told WDIV-TV.

The store was evacuated while Michigan State Police investigated.

Police determined there was no threat and no one was arrested. The store later reopened.

Investigators told WDIV after speaking with the employee this appears to be one big misunderstanding.
