Police: Woman dies after dog attack in Port Huron backyard

PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) — Police say a 22-year-old Port Huron woman has died after a dog attack in the backyard of a home.

Lt. Scott Pike tells the Times Herald of Port Huron that Rebecca Hardy was found in the yard on Thursday afternoon with extensive injuries to her face and neck. He says she died after being taken to a hospital.

Pike says a pit bull and a pit bull-husky mix were taken to St. Clair County Animal Control, where they were quarantined.

The newspaper says both dogs are believed to have been involved in the attack. Pike says the owner was cooperative and wasn’t taken into custody.

Port Huron is located about 55 miles northeast of Detroit. On Wednesday in Detroit, a 4-year-old boy was mauled to death by pit bulls.
