CHARLESTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was arrested and police are searching for a second suspect after a home invasion north of Galesburg.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said the invasion happened at noon on Dec. 1 in the 1500 block of 37th Street in Charleston Township. A witness called authorities after seeing someone break into the house while another person in a car watched.

Deputies soon spotted the suspects’ vehicle and they took off. Eventually, they crashed into a swamp near the 6500 block of Gleason Street in Comstock Township. Deputies and a Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety K-9 Unit set up a perimeter, then took suspect Lindsey Coppersmith into custody.

The sheriff’s department is still looking for the male suspect, Mitchell Allen Fletcher. There is a felony warrant out for his arrest.

Fletcher, 23, is described as a 5-foot-8, 150-pound white male with brown hair and eyes. The sheriff’s department said he may be in the 5200 block of Pavilion Drive, 6700 block of Charring Cross, or the 6200 block of E Michigan. He may be armed.

Anyone with information about Fletcher’s location is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 269.383.8748 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.

Coppersmith, 26, was charged in connection to the break-in and was released on bond.
