GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD)— A month after street sweepers found a dying mother in the middle of a Grand Rapids street, a man has been charged with her murder.
Jermaine Cooper, 38, was formally charged Monday with open murder in connection to the Nov. 6 death of Melissa Moore.
Moore, 31, was shot and killed near Knapp Street and Truxton Drive NE.
Acquaintances told 24 Hour News 8 that Cooper was her boyfriend.
Law enforcement arrested Cooper in Detroit Friday after a tense standoff that ended with them tear gassing a west side home. The FBI said Cooper was turned over to Grand Rapids police the same day.
Cooper is also charged with felony firearm and being a habitual offender. His next scheduled court date is Dec. 18.
