Griffins tie franchise record 11 straight wins

DES MOINES, Iowa (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Griffins rallied to win in overtime Sunday, locking down their 11th straight victory and tying the franchise’s all-time record winning streak.

Playing in Des Moines, the Iowa Wild led the Griffins 3-1 with 2:20 left in the third period.

The Griffins pulled their goalie, and Martin Frk and Mark Zengerle scored two goals to tie the game. Then Xavier Ouellet redirected a shot from Anthony Manta to score in overtime. Grand Rapids won 4-3.

The Griffins last won 11 straight in 2006.

They will go for No. 12 against the Lake Erie Monsters in Cleveland on Wednesday.
