Sanders campaign: DNC is “attempting to undermine” campaign

WASHINGTON (AP) — The manager of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ campaign for president says the Democratic National Committee is “actively attempting to undermine” Sanders’ White House bid.

Campaign manager Jeff Weaver says that is what’s behind the DNC’s decision to block his campaign’s access to a database that holds records about potential voters.

The DNC acted this week after members of Sanders’ campaign staff improperly searched and saved information maintained in the database by the campaign of 2016 rival Hillary Clinton.

Weaver says the campaign will file a lawsuit in federal court Friday demanding access to the database if the party does not restore it.

Weaver says of the DNC, “clearly, in this case, they are trying to help the Clinton campaign.”
