Gas station shooting suspect heading to trial

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD)—A man police believe shot another man at a Grand Rapids gas station is going to trial.

A Grand Rapids judge Wednesday ruled there was enough evidence against Jose Quintino to send his case to circuit court.

Police said the 68-year-old man shot a 24-year-old man in the parking lot of the Marathon gas station on Franklin Street after they fought inside the gas station.

Quintino is charged with three felonies related to the Dec. 5 shooting: assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon by a felon. He was also charged with being a habitual offender.

Quintino has a criminal history dating back to 1972 when he was convicted on a weapons charge. He also has a felony conviction for domestic assault in 2008.
