Firefighters pull woman from GR house fire

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was hospitalized following a house fire in Grand Rapids on Friday.

The fire broke out around 5 p.m. at a residence in the 400 block of Oakhurst Avenue NW, north of Lake Michigan Drive, according to the Grand Rapids Fire Department.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they saw fire in the front room of the house. Neighbors then told them that they had seen someone inside and hanging out of a window.

Firefighters entered the residence, found a woman in the back and carried her out. The woman received treatment on scene and was then taken to the hospital. It’s unclear how seriously she was injured and her condition was unknown Friday night.

After firefighters doused the fire, investigators remained on scene for some time, working to determine the cause.

Firefighters from both Grand Rapids and Walker responded to the scene.
