Man armed with knife robs party store

EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the person who robbed a party store east of Battle Creek on New Year’s Eve.

The robbery happened around 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Leslie’s Party Store, located at 963 E. Michigan Avenue, east of Raymond Road, according to the Emmett Township Department of Public Safety.

The clerk told police that the robber, whose face was covered and who was armed with a knife, demanded money. He got away with an undetermined amount of cash.

No one was hurt.

Officers from the Battle Creek Police Department, Michigan State Police and Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office helped Emmett Township police search for the man, including bringing in a K-9, but he was not found.

Friday, police released surveillance photos of the robber, hoping a member of the public would be able to identify him. Anyone with information is asked to call Emmett Township police at 269.968.9303 or Silent Observer at 269.964.3888.
