PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — Additional charges may be pending against a former West Michigan teacher and coach already accused of having sex with a student.
Corey McNeal currently faces four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
In court for a hearing on Wednesday, prosecutors said they have a lot more evidence than they initially thought, and that the new evidence could lead to more charges.
Police found the evidence after taking McNeal’s phone and the student’s phone.
McNeal as a former gym teacher at Central Elementary School and a basketball coach for Portage Public Schools. It’s unclear how he knew the student.
McNeal is free on bond and is expected back in court on Jan. 20.
