PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — Additional charges may be pending against a former West Michigan teacher and coach already accused of having sex with a student.

In court for a hearing on Wednesday, prosecutors said they have a lot more evidence than they initially thought, and that the new evidence could lead to more charges.

McNeal allegedly had sex with a student several times and also shared hundreds of graphic photos with that student during their two-month relationship, which ended in November.

Police found the evidence after taking McNeal’s phone and the student’s phone.

McNeal as a former gym teacher at Central Elementary School and a basketball coach for Portage Public Schools. It’s unclear how he knew the student.

McNeal is free on bond and is expected back in court on Jan. 20.
