Man killed in crash on E. Beltline ID’d

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A 54-year-old man was killed in a single vehicle crash in Grand Rapids on Jan. 11 after suffering massive heart failure, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.

The crash happened around 5 p.m. on East Beltline near Leonard Street NE.

Witnesses told police that the victim began moving erratically inside the car that he was driving when the vehicle swerved off the road, crossed the median into southbound traffic and crashed into a snowbank.

Kirk DeHaan, 54, of Ada was taken to Spectrum Health Hospital where he later died.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to police.
