BCPD: Girl stabs boy in neck with pencil

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A 13-year-old was arrested after allegedly stabbing a 12-year-old with a pencil while on a school bus in Battle Creek.

It happened around 3 p.m. Thursday when the bus was in the area of Spring Street and Carl Avenue, according to the Battle Creek Police Department.

BCPD says the 13-year-old girl and 12-year-old boy were arguing when the girl pulled out a pencil and “began swinging it,” hitting the 12-year-old in the neck.

The boy sustained a minor injury. He was treated at the scene and then taken to a local hospital.

Preliminary interviews with witnesses, the 12-year-old and the 13-year-old indicated the incident may have come after a vulgar comment was made about the girl on the bus and other comments in recent days, BCPD said.

The girl was arrested and charged with felonious assault in juvenile court.

Another boy was hit in the arm by the girl, but was not hurt.

Anyone with information about the situation is asked to call BCPD at 269.781.0911 or Silent Observer at 269.964.3888.
