Wayland pizza parlor damaged in fire

WAYLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A pizza parlor in Wayland was badly damaged in a fire Thursday morning.

The fire was reported just after 6:30 a.m. at Giuseppe’s Pizza in the 100 block of W. Superior Street. Giuseppe’s Pizza is connected to a row of buildings, but firefighters said the the fire was contained to the pizza parlor.

Firefighters believe the fire started in a back storage area behind the kitchen. The cause of the fire is unknown, but officials said it is not suspicious.

No one was inside the building when the fire started.

The building sustained extensive damage, but firefighters did not say it was destroyed.

Three fire departments responded to the fire.
