OTSEGO, Mich. (WOOD)— Multiple fire departments responded to a fire at an Allegan County ski resort.

The fire was reported just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bittersweet Ski Resort in Otsego.

Dispatchers told 24 Hour News 8 the flames started in a maintenance barn where some equipment is stored.  The building is located on the south end of the resort, far from any ski hills.

Bittersweet Ski Resort opened to skiers on New Year’s Day, after relatively mild temperatures delayed the start to the skiing season.

It’s unclear what caused the fire or the extent of damage.
