CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Gerald R. Ford International Airport set a new passenger record in 2015.
Ford Airport saw 2,550,193 passengers on and off planes, it said in a Tuesday release.
That’s an increase of 215,000 people and 9.2 percent over the previous record of 2,335,105, which was set in 2014.
The airport actually broke its previous yearly passenger record by end of November, by which point it had seen 2,347,424 passengers. And that month was the first November that the airport served more than 200,000 passengers. November saw 205,088 passengers on and off planes.
The airport says July 2015 was its best month ever, with 234,282 passengers passing through.
Ford Airport said it has had the strongest growth in its 52 years over the past three years, during which time it served more than 7.1 million passengers.
