Trader Joe’s recalls nuts over salmonella concern

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD)– Trader Joe’s is pulling a store brand product off its shelves because of salmonella concerns.

The company is recalling Trader Joe’s Raw Cashew Pieces with a best before date of July 17, 2016. The recalled product has a barcode of 00505154 and was distributed in Washington D.C. and 30 states, including Michigan.

Trader Joe’s has pulled the product from its shelves as it investigates. The company says it decided to issue the recall “out of an abundance of caution,” and so far no illnesses have been reported.

Customers with the recalled nuts are urged to throw out the product or return it to Trader Joe’s for a full refund.
