MSP: Man arrested for 1988 cold case murder

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan State Police announced on Thursday that they have arrested a 49-year-old man for his involvement in the murder of a Bangor man decades ago.

Guy Carl Simpson was arraigned for his involvement in the 1988 murder of Charles Paul Miller. Simpson was charged with open murder, felony firearms and conspiracy to commit murder at the 7th District Court in South Haven.

Miller was last seen on Sept. 12, 1988. He was reported missing a few days later by his girlfriend. Twelve years later in 2000, police found Miller’s body that was buried in a wooded area in Lee Township, east of South Haven. Police identified three suspects, but lack of evidence brought the case to a standstill.

Simpson is currently be lodged in the Van Buren County Jail where is awaiting trial.
