REMUS, Mich. (WOOD) — Autopsy results revealed that a man whose body was found outside a Mecosta County church last week died of hypothermia.
A passerby discovered the body of 30-year-old Daniel Joseph Cory in the yard of the chapel at St. Michael Catholic Church, at 8929 50th Ave. in Remus around 8 a.m. Friday.
Michigan State Police originally treated the case as a homicide because they said they didn’t have any information indicating otherwise.
However, an autopsy was conducted and revealed that Cory died as a result of hypothermia/exposure to the elements, according to a Monday press release from MSP.
It’s unclear how long the man was outside before his body was found.
