Montague HS student hit by vehicle

MONTAGUE, Mich. (WOOD)— A Montague student is in the hospital after being hit by a vehicle while waiting for a school bus.

It happened on West Fruitvale Road just north of Walsh Road Monday morning.

Montague Public Schools Superintendent Jeffrey Johnson told 24 Hour News 8 the girl was at her bus stop, waiting to get on the northbound bus when a southbound pickup truck hit her.

Johnson said Monday afternoon the girl was in critical but stable condition.

He said no one was ticketed for the incident, but the case is under investigation.

In a post to its Facebook page, Montague Public Schools said the accident serves as a reminder to all to be cautious around school buses.
