WATCH: 40 inches of snow falls on W. Va. in 40 seconds

Snow from around the Washington area is dumped in the parking lot of Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (WATE/WOOD) – A time-lapse video showing the effects of the blizzard that hit West Virginia is making its way across Facebook.

Wayne Bennett’s camera captured 40 inches of snow falling on Martinsburg in 40 seconds.

At noon on Friday, Bennett set up his camera to take one photo every two seconds for nearly 27 hours. He stopped the recording Saturday afternoon and pieced together hundreds of the photos into a video.

The video has been viewed more than 2.8 million times since the Berkeley County School teacher posted it Saturday.

Bennett’s wife, Abby jokingly told WATE to stay tuned for part two: the melting.
