KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD)– Investigators are releasing the name of a Grand Rapids woman hit by a vehicle while crossing 28th Street.
It happened around 8:40 p.m. Saturday in the 4300 block of 28th Street SE, east of East Paris Avenue, near the Art Van Furniture store in Kentwood.
Police said 22-year-old Alaq Alaa-Hussein Almedrase was on the south side of the road trying to cross to the north side when she was hit in the westbound curb lane.
Almedrase remained in critical condition Monday afternoon.
The male driver, 32-year-old Naiha Rodney Davis of Grand Rapids, was not injured.
Investigators said Almedrase was not using a crosswalk when she was hit.
Police initially believed alcohol was a factor in the incident. However, investigators and the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office are awaiting toxicology test results to determine if charges should be filed in the case.
