3 arrested for Battle Creek-area robberies

EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Three men are expected to face charges in connection to a string of purse snatchings and robberies in the Battle Creek area.

The Emmett Township Department of Public Safety says its officers responded to a purse snatching and robbery incident at the Meijer store on B Drive South just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officers spotted what was believed to be the suspects’ vehicle leaving the Meijer and pulled it over. With the help of Battle Creek police, officers arrested three men.

The suspects are also believed to be responsible for two previous robberies, one at Lakeview Square Mall in Battle Creek and the other at Pine Knoll Apartments in Emmett Township. One of the victims in the mall robbery was hurt — though police did not specify the nature or severity of the injury — and was listed in stable condition at the hospital on Wednesday.

Police said they found evidence from the robberies in the suspects’ car.

The suspects were interviewed by Battle Creek police and then taken to the Calhoun County Jail. Each faces multiple robbery and attempted robbery charges out of both Battle Creek and Emmett Township. Their names were not released Wednesday.

Police are still working to determine whether the suspects were linked to any other incidents in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch at 269.781.0911 or Silent Observer at 269.964.3888.
