Fire damages Georgetown Township home

GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Part of a Georgetown Township house was damaged in a fire on Saturday.

The fire broke out just after 3 p.m. at the house in the 1400 block of Spring Brook Drive near Cottonwood Drive in Georgetown Township.

The Georgetown Township Fire Department responded and knocked down the flames, but not before the garage, two cars and part of the house were damaged.

The heat from the fire melted a portion of the siding on a neighboring house.

The fire is believed to have started in the garage. The cause is not yet known.

Firefighters on scene told 24 Hour News 8 that a portion of the house may be salvageable.

There were no reports of injuries.
