PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 26-year-old man was killed after the car he was riding in was rear-ended by a SUV Monday evening.

Police say Zare Holmes, 23, of Three Rivers was stopped at a traffic light on US-131 south of M-216 in Park Township around 6:30 p.m. when her vehicle was rear-ended by a SUV driven by a 29-year-old Portage woman.

David Banks Jr., 26, was riding in the back seat of Holmes’ car when it was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dekion Holmes, 22, of Three Rivers was also a passenger in the car and was taken to a hospital along with the driver.

Both vehicles were impounded for further investigation. Police say no citations were issued or arrests will be made until the investigation is completed and the findings are forwarded to the St. Joseph County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
