GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOOD) What do craft beer and the largest 25K road race in the country have in common? We know both are very popular in Grand Rapids and today, the Fifth-Third River Bank Run and Perrin Brewing Company announced they’re teaming up.
Perrin is one of many new elements that will be added to a fun and festive post race party to be held Saturday May 14 on Calder Plaza in downtown Grand Rapids.
“Grand Rapids is Beer City USA and runners love beer, so this is a perfect opportunity to celebrate local and provide an even better experience for race participants,” said John Zimmerman, Fifth Third River Bank Run Race Director. “From Meijer, Dematic, Saucony and now Perrin, the race that began 39 years ago is still focused on driving economic growth in downtown and throughout West Michigan.” The race generates more than $2 million annually to the city, area merchants and is a large source of philanthropy for area non-profits.
This new partnership also brings a new opportunity for runners to take advantage of the “No Problems” Training Series, named after the Perrin Session IPA. The training series will launch on Tuesday, February 9 at Perrin Brewery in Comstock Park and will continue on the second Tuesday of the month right up to race day. Runners of all types are welcomed and will have two- to five-mile training options
