GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man already in prison on a drug charge has been convicted of a 2008 murder.
A jury on Wednesday found Najee Wilkins guilty of second-degree murder and perjury in the death of Khiry Walker.
Walker, 17, was shot and killed in November 2008 as he walked through Martin Luther King Park in Grand Rapids.
Wilkins, who was 17 at the time of the homicide and is now 24, was charged with the murder in September 2015. At the time, he was already serving between four and 20 years in the West Shoreline Correctional Facility for an unrelated drug offense.
His sentencing in the murder case is scheduled for March 3.
