KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kalamazoo County government is asking residents to renew a 1.4491 millage for law enforcement.
On Tuesday, the Kalamazoo Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution for the renewal of the Law Enforcement and Safety Millage to be placed on the May 3, 2016 ballot.
It will restore 1.4491 mills for six years, from 2016 to 2021. It’s estimated that 1.4491 mills would raise around $11,879,000 when first levied in 2016, according to a news release from the Kalamazoo County administration.
It will directly fund functions of the prosecuting attorney, sheriff, Circuit Court Trial and Family Division, District Court, animal services and enforcement department, the release said.
