PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — A former West Michigan already facing charges for allegedly having sex with a student now also faces child pornography charges.
Kalamazoo County prosecutors added three more charges against Corey McNeal: two counts of possession of child sexually abusive material and one count of distributing obscene matter to children.
In all, he faces seven counts, having already been charged with four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
McNeal is a former gym teacher at Central Elementary School and a basketball coach for Portage Public Schools. He is accused of having sex with a student several times and also sharing hundreds of graphic photos with that student during their two-month relationship, which ended in November 2015.
Police found the evidence after taking McNeal’s and the student’s phones.
It’s unclear how McNeal knew the student.
After a preliminary hearing, McNeal’s case was passed on to circuit court. He remains free on bond.
