GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Perrin Brewing Company is the official microbrewery of the 2016 Fifth Third River Bank Run.
The partnership announced Wednesday is one of the many new elements that are being added to the post race party on May 14 on Calder Plaza in downtown Grand Rapids.
“We always want to increase the excitement and experience that people have so we thought since this is Beer City USA we need a microbrew to be the official partner for the Fifth Third River Bank Run,” said John Zimmerman, Fifth Third River Bank Run Race Director.
The official craft beer of the race is Perrin’s No Problems “A Session IPA.”
“We think it’s perfect because whether you’re running the 25K, 10K, 5K or the walk, it’s no problem,” said Zimmerman.
The new partnership also allows runners to take advantage of the “No Problems” Training Series, named after the Perrin Session IPA.
The training series will launch on Feb. 9 at Perrin Brewery in Comstock Park and will continue on the second Tuesday of the month right up to race day. Runners will have two to five-mile training options. Afterwards, runners will be able to return to Perrin to enjoy food and beer, as well as get a tour of the brewery.
“This community has played a large role in our success and partnering with the Fifth Third River Bank Run is just another way we can say thank you, and introduce even more people to our world-class beers, created right here in West Michigan,” Keith Klopcic, owner of Perrin Brewing Company, said in a news release.
